    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services by:
      • driving office vehicle for the transport of authorized personnel and the delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and
      • meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and delivering and collecting visa and customs documents when required.
    • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of the vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs and provision of inputs to the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
    • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs and arrangements for major repairs as well as timely changes of oil, checks of tyres and brakes, car washing, etc.
    • Ensure availability of all the required documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
    • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
    • Perform any other related duties which may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Consultancy for Use Cases of Micro-credentials

    Assignment:

    The international expert will perform the tasks under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education and the direct supervision of the Chief of Section for Educational Innovation and Skills Development (EISD). Specifically, the international expert shall perform the following assignments:

    a. Based on the research framework, conduct a thorough desk review of academic and grey literature, expert interviews and at least two (2) focus group discussions with diverse stakeholders to develop a national use case on micro-credentials;

    b. Produce a 10-15 page report and summary presentation (PPT) on micro-credentials recognition with the following headings: I) Background and policy context; II) Methods and results of stakeholder consultations; III) Key challenges and opportunities for quality micro-credentials; and IV) Actionable recommendations;

    c. Peer review an 8-10 page draft policy brief and provide substantive inputs to build regional consensus in line with the UNESCO recognition conventions. The peer review should determine if the draft policy brief is original as to thought, is methodologically sound and if it clearly adds to the knowledge and development of the field.
    In line with UNESCO's overall gender mainstreaming strategy, researchers are expected to integrate a gender perspective in all activities and apply gender analysis and mainstreaming concepts whenever feasible.

    OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
    The Inclusive Quality Education Section (IQE) is implementing two regional projects on Costing and Financing Education 2030 in the Asia-Pacific. The projects aim to examine closely the costing and financing aspect of achieving SDG4 targets, specifically Target 4.1 (primary and secondary), Target 4.2 (pre-primary/early childhood) and Target 4.5 (Gender equality and Inclusion) to support countries to understand and meet the financial commitments in achieving these targets. Two excel-based education simulation costing models have been developed to produce analysis data and make projections for education sector planning. In addition, the IQE Section also provide technical and advocacy support to countries for strengthening education finance.

    OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

    UNESCO’s Education Data Monitoring Initiative for Afghanistan (EDMI) is a key intervention on facilitating the implementation of the Afghanistan Education Sector Transitional Framework (AESTF). The initiative intends to coordinate education data monitoring efforts in Afghanistan. In particular, it aims to provide up-to-date data on the Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), harmonize and quality assure existing data on general education and community-based education (CBE) to facilitate monitoring the state of education in general and girls and women rights to education in particular and decision making by the key education actors in Afghanistan. It also aims to standardize data collection methodologies and tools and assess the teacher competencies and students learning outcomes to link the data monitoring initiative with the UNESCO mandate in improving quality of education. Through adopting a coordinated approach to data monitoring, the initiative also strengthens the coordination of data monitoring by the development partners and education stakeholders and supports monitoring and evaluation of the AESTF.
