New UNESCO report - Freedom & Creativity: Defending art, defending diversity

The profound disruptions to cultural life and livelihoods caused by COVID-19 have revealed and magnified the creative sector’s pre-existing volatility. They have also made clear that artistic freedom is as essential to the flourishing of cultures as it is to the functioning of democratic societies.
 
In celebration of World Press Freedom Day 2020, UNESCO is shedding light on the current advances and challenges in the legal protection of artistic freedom, the protection of the social and economic rights of artists and cultural professionals, and the monitoring of artistic freedom.
