Regional Workshop on “Enhancing national capacity for results-based budgeting to achieve better education results in Asia-Pacific”
When: 9-12 October 2017
Where: Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
Who: UNESCO Bangkok in collaboration with UNESCO International Institute for Education Planning (IIEP) with support from the government of the Republic Korea through the KFIT Regional Project, are organizing this workshop and will bring together at least 30 government officials from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education of 10 countries in the region.
Governments around the world are working to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public spending as part of a wider effort to improve public service. In line with these efforts, many countries have introduced Results-based Budgeting (RBB), which seeks to shift the focus of budgeting from inputs to results. To support member states in their efforts to integrate RBB in the education sector, this workshop is being organized to: 1) enhance the capacity of staff from both programme and budget departments/offices of the Ministry of Education on RBB; 2) receive comments from participants on the draft booklet that will be presented during the workshop; and 3) provide a platform for participants to share their knowledge and experience with others, both from different departments and ministries, particularly between education and finance ministries of respective countries, as well as between countries in the region.
