Lenovo partnership boosts ‘Learning Coin’ for marginalized students

Education is the key to personal and professional success in life, yet many children and young people are at risk of never having the chance to learn.

Lenovo Thailand has partnered with UNESCO Bangkok and Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to implement the ‘Learning Coin for Equitable Education Project’ to promote equitable education and support the Government of Thailand in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). This initiative will enhance learning for 500 out-of-school and marginalized children and youth in Thailand through a reading application and conditional cash transfers.

Lenovo Thailand employees with UNESCO Bangkok staff today visited the Foundation for Rural Youth (FRY), an implementing partner of UNESCO Bangkok to pilot the ‘Learning Coin’ project with migrant children in Bangkok. Lenovo employees helped set up the ICT equipment which will help UNESCO and FRY conduct online teaching and learning for 70 migrant children at the FRY migrant learning centre. The handing over ceremony was graced by Mr. Shigeru Aoyagi, Director of UNESCO Bangkok Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, and Mr. Thanet Angkasirisan, Lenovo Thailand General Manager.

Through the Learning Coin initiative, Lenovo Thailand will provide ICT devices to support learning of marginalized children in Bangkok, Mae Hong Son, Nakhon Nayok and Yala.
