The Fruits of EE-Net in the Philippines: Addressing the Pandemic

During a virtual ceremony on 23 July 2021, UNESCO recognized the innovative work and creation of a national Consortium of Entrepreneurship Education for Development, Philippines (CEED PH).

CEED PH stems from the Capacity Building Program for Entrepreneurship Education (CBP4EE) in the Philippines, led by Miriam College, the UNESCO APEID EE Philippine Chapter, as the proponent of the 2-year Center of Excellence (COE) Project Grant by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). CEED PH is a collaboration of seven regional academic partners and a multi-sector ecosystem to build an agile entrepreneurship education landscape.  

This Miriam College program initiative is a timely response to interest generated through research, conferences, academic experiences of academic institutions in the Philippines, and the policy recommendations among member countries of the UNESCO APEID EE-Net ASEAN and Asia Pacific Country meetings since 2014. The CHED MC COE project highlighted the profound value of an evolving “Entrepreneurship Education Discipline, the Educator, and the Enabling Multi-Sector Ecosystem” that encourages and helps permeate an “innovative society with an entrepreneurship mindset, values, and culture.” 

The project developed and piloted the teaching and learning foundation and framework in the Philippines drawn from the regional context, which emerged organically. The project pivoted to fit the various degrees of readiness, professional competencies, and leadership roles for publication and use in the region. 

Likewise, the project included the enhancement and EE programs to address the needs and opportunities for agile and evolving entrepreneurial teaching and development programmes accordingly. Finally, the project collectively created the CEED PH to continue and sustain the programme towards nation-building.  

Indeed, the spirit of EE-Net in the Philippines continues. And there can never be a better time and place to steer its way to a new world beyond the Covid-19 pandemic.
