UNESCO Bangkok, with support from the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia-Pacific Region (CRIHAP), introduced a new Youth Forum title "Community Heritage for Sustainability". This youth forum, focusing on raising awareness of the importance of community-level Intangible Cultural Heritage, opened up opportunities for youth from diverse ethnicities to express their aspirations and ideas to develop project to both safeguard valuable traditional wisdoms and traditions in their communities as well as contributing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Youth Forum was first launched in Thailand in November 2020 with 69 youths from 17 local communities participating. From the success of the Thai episode, UNESCO is now implementing this Youth Forum series in Myanmar and Lao PDR.
During the Youth Forum in Thailand, UNESCO invited experts and representatives from public and private sectors with interest in local community empowerment and heritage safeguarding to listen to project ideas by 17 teams of youth from all walks of life. Below are the recorded presentations of the 17 ideas with comments from international experts (all dubbed in English translation).
