Capacity Development on CLC Planning and Management : International Perspectives for CLC Leaders in the ASEAN Community
(Ayutthaya Thailand, 29 July – 30 August 2013) - Training and dialogue on “CLC* Planning and Management : International Perspectives for CLC Leaders in the ASEAN Community” brought together 44 participants comprising NFE (Non-Formal Education) personnel working at central office, provincial office, district offices and 26 CLC teachers/facilitators from six ASEAN countries; Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand.
The project was initiated by the Office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and UNESCO when Ms. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO visited Thailand in September 2012. The project aims to build capacity of the government officials on CLC Planning and Management: International Perspectives and to develop links of CLCs among countries in the ASEAN Community. Training was organized by the International Institute for Development of Educational Administrator (IIDEA), Sirindhorn Institute for Continuing Education and Development (SICED), Ministry of Education of Thailand, UNESCO Bangkok and INTEL.
The training featured CLCs as a delivery mechanism for lifelong learning and for creating caring, sharing and inclusive society in the ASEAN Community. Participants learned through lectures, group work, study visit and dialogues with resource persons, local wisdoms, successful practitioners and among themselves. UNESCO Bangkok’s APPEAL (Asia-Pacific Programme for Education for All) unit contributed technically to the training sessions. The training highlighted people’s empowerment for sustainable community development and how to create sense of ownership and community participation. At the end of the training, all participants were encouraged to express their commitments and good will by submitting action plan for posterior activity.
