Call for Papers/Posters Extended to September 15, 2019 - Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Underwater Cultural Heritage

The Bureau of Cultural Heritage, National Taiwan Ocean University, and the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology would like to welcome you to the Fourth Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Underwater Cultural Heritage, March 23 – 27, 2020.

Paper/Poster abstract submission deadline: July 31st, 2019 

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 15, 2019!

In keeping with the Conference theme and selected Conference sessions (below), submit a 300-word (maximum) paper or poster abstract before September 15, together with title, 3-5 keywords, name of the paper/poster author(s), affiliation(s) and email address(es).  All paper/poster abstracts should be submitted/emailed to the APCONF 2020 publications point of contact Brian Fahy (brian.fahy.arch@gmail.com) for consideration.

Conference Theme: “The Maritime Cultural Landscape of the Austronesian Diaspora”

The Asia-Pacific Conference on Underwater Cultural Heritage (APConf) aims to address management and protection strategies of underwater cultural heritage in Asia and the countries of the Indian and Pacific Oceans in the 21st Century, facilitate regional cooperation through the development of academic, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and governmental networks in the Asia-Pacific region, and provide a forum for discussion of technical and ethical issues related to underwater cultural heritage and underwater archaeology

A wide range of people involved with underwater cultural heritage are encouraged to attend including those from universities, government agencies, museums, NGOs, IGOs, the private sector and the community.  This conference follows the successes of the Inaugural Asian Academy for Heritage Management Asia-Pacific Regional Conference hosted by the National Museum of the Philippines, the 2nd Regional Conference hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and the University of Hawaii Marine Option Program, and the 3rd Regional Conference hosted by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
