Second Stakeholders Meeting on Indicators for Internationalization of Higher Education in Asia and the Pacific

Toward a mapping of indicators and their utilization

9-10 November 2017, Bangkok, Thailand

Developing relevant indicators is an important strategy to effectively monitor internationalization policies and practices of higher education in Asia-Pacific effectively. In order to build on progress since the first stakeholders meeting last year, UNESCO Bangkok organized the Second Stakeholders Meeting on Indicators for Internationalization of Higher Education from 9-10 November 2017, in Bangkok, Thailand, with generous support from the University of Tokyo, Japan.

During the meeting, participants shared innovative policies and practices with regard to the development and utilization of indicators, and identified the gaps of understanding based on the current state of indicators in Asia-Pacific. As a result, the concluding session elaborated on the goals and domains of internationalization of higher education at both system and institutional levels.

Based on a draft working paper and significant inputs from working groups, UNESCO Bangkok is planning to develop a technical note on relevant indicators for internationalization of higher education in Asia-Pacific.
